I have a Record Power 350S, again I've tried setting it up this morning using different blades and for the life of me I can't get them to stay on the bloody wheels.
I went through this last year and for the past several months have only used the standard blade that came with it and the 3/4 inch fast cut until that snapped.
Is there anyone in Manchester who can spare half hour or so and wouldn't mind coming over for a brew and saving my sanity before I thrash the living bloody
daylights out of the sodding thing? :D

I've watched so many videos John on setting up. It's always the smaller blades I have problems with. I thought of selling it so many times, otherwise it'll sit
there with the standard blade it came with getting used very occasionally.

If someone does fancy coming over, it doesn't have to be today. I'm in all day everyday!

Hi Pete,
sorry to hear you are having so much of a problem wiith your Record 350S Bandsaw. They are good machines and yiu should not have so much difficulty. The blades that come with the machine are not as good as Tuffsaw blades from a cutting point, but even the originals should stay on. If I was nearer, I would gladly pop over and help, but perhaps a chat may be useful and I will PM my number. I suspect there is one thing that you may not have considered, which I missed initially.

On my BS300E it's difficult to put a new blade on without altering the tracking.

Once the blade is on the wheels I rotate them by hand and note the position of the blade on the top wheel as I gradually adjust the tracking.
When the blade is roughly where I want it on the top wheel I adjust the blade tension noting what effect this has on the tracking - adjusting accordingly.

Once everything is roughly in place by hand I then run the machine and check blade position again.

It's a bit of a pain having to tip the top wheel to get the blade on but I'm used to it now.

Yep, that's pretty much what I've been doing woodpig :) The 1/8" blade is the hardest blade to set up, in fact so far I haven't been able to use it to cut anything.
If it doesn't come off the wheels it'll come off the rubber on the bottom wheel and sit directly on the edge. The 1/4" does pretty much the same, although I did
at least get a good 10 minutes use of it this morning.

Did you buy the saw secondhand by any chance? Have you always had this problem? If so I would suspect someone in its past has tampered with the lower wheel setting bolts at the rear of the machine - a definite no no unless absolutely necessary to get the wheels co-planar. This should probably be your next step. Check also that both tyres are crowned, if they have flattened with use (or someone has replaced the originals with the wrong profile?) they will need to be replaced.

Pete,

I doubt you will be able to ever use the 1/8" blade unless you have adapted the guides the way Steve Maskery did. It is too small, which is why I bought the Carter Stabilizer. The 1/4" was the smallest I could use before I changed the blade guide.

Just sent you another PM, which I hope will help.

Thanks Alex :D Did you order one of them direct or is there a UK supplier?

It was ordered direct, but I did speak with them to establish which model woul;d fit my machine as they make for other models and I had to give details of my machine and measurements so that they could confirm if they had a model that would fit. It is not a 'Fit All' guide.

What a mistake that was Jim  I bought a Dewalt 745 a couple of weeks back as I couldn't cope with out a T/S after selling the TS200.
I built a wheely base, but a much smaller one this time!
