Bandsaw buying advice for forum newbee

Hello all,

First post here. I am thinking of purchasing the Electra Beckum BAS316 or 317 as they have released now.

Has anyone used this machine they could pass on some good/bad thoughts on?

The BAS 317 is a fair improvement on the 316 in terms of "ease of use". The actual performance isn't really any different, but the 317 has quick set guides, quick release blade tension lever, rack & pinion tilt, and a cam locking rip fence. Set up time is less with the 317 as a result and the price is around the same as the "old" 316. Only thing worth bearing in mind is that a lot of places will be selling the 316 off cheap now to make way for the 317, so you could pick yourself up a bargain.

I went and purchased the EB 317, the supplier gave me the 317 for the same price as the 316. Arrives Monday. Can't wait.
