when i bought my bandsaw, i got some blades with it. i am not sure/have forgotten what is for what:

1/2" 4tpi
3/4" 4tpi
1" 7tpi. this apprears to have some big teeth then some smaller, then some bigger etc. is this what is referred to as skip tooth?

could anybody give me some pointers. i believe that they are tuffsaw ones.

Skip just means that every other tooth is missing. It makes the gullets relatively large so they carry away the sawdust very effectively.
The 1/2 and 3/4" are both rip blades. The 1"x7 is a tad odd. I've not used one. It's width suggests Rip but the TPI is more general purpose. More suited to ripping thinner stock, perhaps.
The vari-pitch blade reduces vibration and gives a smoother cut as a result.
Ring Ian, he'll sort you out.

cheers. i think that the " was actually mentioned for cutting veneers, so that rings true.

i will give ian a shout.

Another vote for Ian at Tuffsaws. The quality of his blades is outstanding (beautifully smooth welds) and he's happy to share his massive expertise with really useful and practical advice.
