I have an old Burges 3 wheel bandsaw and have ordered a new blade, same size.
Now am i correct in saying, the knob on top lowers the top wheel, then slip the old blade off and replace with the new.
If i loosen the knob 10 turns at the start and tighten 10 turnes with the new, will i be about the right tenshion.
As you may have gathered i have never had a bandsaw.

The is also a knob behind the top wheel that slackens it off if you need more slack. I just tighten the blade up until it pings when I flick it then loosen it off a turn. Might not be the best way but it works for me.

To answer your question - maybe.
No two blades are the same and the new one may be different in size by a millimetre or two. It may be a different thickness. It will need to be tensioned correctly, which will probably, but not necessarily exactly, be thesame as the one you have taken off. You really do need to understand your bandsaw.
