hoping people can help im looking for a new band saw
im limited on space so is going to have to sit on a bench. it be mainly for cutting bowl blanks and veneers
and genrul use iv been looking at ether the
axminster hbs250n
charwood -w175
record bs250

if any one could shed some light on which one to go for as they are ruffly the same price
also are they all made in the same facturey and branded in different names ?

Hi, Steve. Think seriously about a larger saw second hand if you wish to cut anything of a reasonable size - capacities given in the blurb are always extremely optimistic. You might have to do a little work on it, but it's part and parcel of learning to use the saw to its full capability - and ANYTHING you buy new that you're not spending thousands on will need work anyway. They do NOT work out of the box.

thanks for that but unfortunatly i dont have the roof hight or space for a bigger saw in the work shed so limited to those bench top ones

I have the Record BS250 and I'm very happy with it. As long as you have a decent blade fitted (Tuffsaws) and take it steady it works just fine. I've cut a variety of hardwoods up to about 95mm in height with no problems and plenty of thin strips of oak to edge shelves, etc.
