ok, this may sound really stupid but i didnt realise that the machine stand sold by axminster did'nt come with the wooden bits!

edit > stupid I know! I have gone back and read the webpage and can now clearly see that it says you have to cut the wooden braces yourself.

I plan on using the stand for my kity 419 but don't have any oak/cherry or scrap hardwood, does anyone recon that ripped 2x4 would do? has anyone else used pine?

also anyone know if the heavy weight axminster machine stand would be up to the job of my cast iron topped thicknesser/planer, I have no idea of the weight, all I know is that me "and the old man" can just about shift it by hand...............
