Just a quick heads up for anyone thinking about getting an affordable block plane.......
Axminster have their 9 1/2 rider on sale for £17.22 at the moment which I think is excellent value - I got one yesterday and have to say that the quality of the brass bits and general finish is a lot better than I was expecting after seeing the review of the 60 1/2.
I know it's not a LN or Veritas but at that price it seemed too good to pass up. I'll probably tune it up and fit a Ray Iles iron and it should be perfect for planing strips of tonkin bamboo to make fishing rods.
