What with all this talk of bandsaws thought I might ask my own question!

Was looking for a hobby bandsaw, decided on the BAS250G with a 4" depth of cut, then realised I really needed a 5" depth of cut. Cant really afford the BAS316, but then spotted the Axminster AWSBS for £140 including stand - seems very cheap to me but does have the depth of cut I wanted. Anyone any opinion as to this saw at all?

Might I be better sending SWMBO out to work nights to get the BAS316?

Cheers,

Steve.

Hi, Why dont you look on E-bay or in the free-ads for a decejnt band saw. I bought a hobby type saw and it is useless, it cuts where it wants to cut not where I want it to. I have since bought a very old cast-iron industrial band saw for £40, fitted a new guide system for less than £30 and now I know the joy of an accurate.powerful and extremely versatile tool.
