How do I get a picture to the right size for an avatar :?

You can use any number of graphics programs to make them by reducing the image size to below 140 pixels but the quickest would probably be to use one of the many free avatar generating programs if you are not familiar with the process.

Put
avatar maker free

into google and you should get a selection.
