Richard has spoken (thank you) and the results are as follows...

Hi Nev

Apologies for the slow response. Busy week!!

The results are in. Difficult one this month. Some really good work on show again.

1 dennisk. Good shapes, excellent finish, good combination of timbers and a handle on the cup. Well done.

2 woodiedonald. I really liked the classic shape of the cup and the join detail. Another handle too. Love the shape on the handle. Only critisism would be that the saucer curves out from the cup rather than in, the biccys would fall off!

3 tazmaniandevil. Another lovely job here. Good classic shapes and an excellent handle too. Saucer is perhaps a little deep but at least my biccy would be safe! well done.

4 sammo. No handle but apart from that a really good job. Keeping it simple but well executed with a good standard of finish. Well done

5 Nev. I love this one and it would have won except for the hole  ! Great combination of timbers, nice classic shape and a really good handle.... But there's a hole and I can't place something with a hole higher than well made items with no holes! Sorry!

6 finneyb. A good attempt and it has potential as far as shape and finish goes but the competition is for a cup and saucer, this is a whole new product... But you never know, it might catch on!

Cheers

Richard

Well done to all that managed to get to the lathe :)

Jolly good efforts by all once again. Chuffed to bits getting a mention, being a relative noob. (even though that was more down to there being fewer entries than normal... )
Still, my entry was sold almost as soon as it was finished so that's a good boost for the old confidence too.

Super entries again this month, sorry not to have had the time this time, afraid extra work available and of course the holiday too. Roll on next challenge though.

Phil

Well done to all who entered ,to those that got in the winners enclosure good on ye .

Great job Richard and Nev ,

Ireally look forward to the monthly challenge ,it's great to see all the entrys that are posted , but surly there are more out there who could enter .You may not realize it but what you make and post does give other's enjoyment and keep an eye on how you are progressing .

So come on to-morrow is the first of the month get your entry done early and have it ready to post I could do with a good long browse at the end of the month .

I agree completely. I always avoided the comps because I felt I was nowhere near good enough. Taking part though is a great skill builder. Take on the challenge, and work towards the type of shapes you may never have tried normally.

C'mon folks. If I can do it, anyone can.

Would encourage people to enter. I am new to turnning only been at this as a hobby since June 2012 and what holds me back - lack of imagination of what to make, as my wife keeps reminding me there is only so many bowls a girl can have. .. so the challenge stretches my skills, and that blinking cup was my 3rd attempt before I got to something I liked.

On holiday for a couple weeks, so may not get time to enter September's challenge but will give it a go any way and if I run out of time will post after.
