On a Sunday evening I often have a chat with DaveR and we put the world to rights. Weather. Recipes. Transatlantic cultural differences. Sketchup. Even woodwork occasionally.
Last night we got talking about limes and lemons. Don't ask me how, but we did. I sent him a link to this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21519050
It's the transcript of an item from the R4 program "From our own correspondent", in which the author describes her return trip to Australia after a 12 year absence.
In short, she cannot believe how expensive everything is, even though everyone seems to be rich. Her specific example was that a single lime cost the equivalent of £1.50 each (c.f. Morrisons, 30p each or 4/£1 - lemons are the same price.). It tuns out that Dave had bought two lemons this weekend, at77c each, that's 51p even after today's devaluation.

So there we are folks. We've never had it so good!

Now all we need to do is figure out a way of buying petrol from america and paying for it with lemons.

Or find a way of making cars run on lemons.
