Assembling new drill - spare bit

I have just been assembling yet another new toy http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ax ... rod719351/
but what the golly gosh is this 'thing'. No mention of it anywhere in the destruction booklet, didn't seem to fit anywhere..... and if it is a tool then there is no mention of what it is for and it wasn't needed.
Has anyone got one of these drills and know what it is ?

I feel like my old Dad when he took watches to bits and had parts left over

It's to break the hold of the taper by which the drill chuck mandrel is held in the drill. You tap it in through a slot above the chuck spindle.
