The wife has a new laptop (acer) and in its power management software there is the opportunity to alter the speed that the CPU operates, low to high. And it works.

On my desktop (time Athlon AMD) do I have this facility?
I do have a hardware accelerator, is this the same thing?

Immediate question, dw, is why would you want to? Reason for putting this on a laptop is to conserve power (ie run at low speed when on battery).

As to whether yours does/does not, it would be somewhere in your control panel/power settings most likely but I doubt whether it will be there.

No...hardware accelerator is not the same thing...
