I found a bag of Ash blanks that i had cut up back in 2002.
The Ash came from the local park where the big old Ash was cut down so i managed to get what i could at the time which was mainly branch wood.
Thought i would try doing some colouring with it and this is the result, not as good as Kims mind but not bad.
This is 6" tall 3" wide with a wall thickness of about 3mm.

Really good, Love the colour, did not realise how versatile ash could be.
I turned my first bit of ash this week and was so surprised at the honey colour. thought it would be white or grey.

I like it Paul, Ash is a great wood for colouring as the open nature of the grain means that it takes the colour more strongly in the vessels, this makes the patterns really stand out, which it doesn't really do with Ash if it left natural, so you actually enhance the grain pattern by colouring.

Thanks folks glad you like :D
Think i will be taking a closer look at Kims how to re colouring as i have some nice Ash blanks to turn
