I wonder how well it would work with hairy arms rather than that noodle-armed girly-boy in the vid. Also how consistent could the image be when the bracelet seems to be worn quite slack.

Apart from that, yeah! I want one!

I think it's faked. The finger doesn't seem to have any shadow.
Even if it's possible, how readable do you think it would be in daylight? I can hardly see the screen on my GalaxyS4 in bright daylight.

That is a marketing image - if you go to their website they've got a simple prototype working, but as John says you'll need a lot of power to get a viewable image in daylight. I'd be interested to see how they plan on dealing with different shapes of arm as with (effectively) a very short throw, high angle projector like that, very small shifts in the projection surface result in big distortions of the image.

Would possibly go for one but for the need of sleeves 364 days of the year. Perhaps turning it round and projecting on to the palm of the hand would be better... if slightly more tickly.

Personally I cant see it being much use. You would need to hold your wrist at exactly the same angle every time other wise the point of interception would be off. You'd tried to call your wife and end up ordering allsorts off eBay before you know it.

I'm not, just seems like another gadget for those who are needy and must have the latest thing at whatever cost.

I wonder what the battery life is? the stupid iWatch is about a day if you don't use it.

I don't know if i want one of them but i'd defo go for the hover bike that comes up at the end of the vid

I'm not normally a Apple defender but the I watch is superb for me in my work life
Take calls and texts on your wrist
I can shove my phone into inaccesable places on machines and use the watch as the viewfinder and shutter button....to see whats going on
then all the other functions that it does as well as a fine watch
the battery on mine from 6 am to say 11 pm only uses about 40%
You take it off click the magnetic charger on and in the morning it 100%
My first mobile weighed 2 kg and didnt last 8 hours on a charge with little use

Hi Ian

That's better than the scare storeys on the web then.

Pete

To be fair to the assorted smartwatches, my wristwatch only goes 2 days if I don't wear or wind it. The difference is that it "charges" when worn - maybe Apple et al should look at licencing something like the Kinetik technology that Seiko have.

I've had an Android watch from day one and I take it off (and mute the phone) when in the workshop. I'd rather not know there's a message or whatever waiting for my attention. The last thing I want is it going off and distracting me when I'm in the middle of something that could remove a finger or two.

I'm sure its a fake bracelet video. You can't project 'dark' / black onto a light arm. Think about it.

That's not entirely true - most projection screens are white after all. Our visual system is more strongly keyed to contrast than to absolute brightness so it works. But the lighter the projection surface and the higher the ambient light levels the more power the projector needs to generate that contrast, and there's no way you can build a bright enough projector into such a small space.

I did post earlier that there's a genuine video of a working prototype on their website.
