My Mac is still on 10.6.8 which is a relief!

My iPod Touch wants to be updated but it isn't going to be because the new update only works on iTunes 11 which I hate. Since the iPodTouch never goes anywhere I'm not bothered.

In numpty understandable terms (please!) - what does this actually mean to anyone who might be affected? I have read details on the link - thanks, but still none the wiser.

Its a way that the bad guys pretend to be the website you are trying to access...such as your bank details. This is/was supposed to have been a secure method of communication....you to/from your bank...but the bad guys found a way round it.

Its a copy and paste problem, there is a line in the code that shouldn't be there, that can cause your device to think its in a safe mode when its not.
The bad guys can take advantage of this programming error made by Apple to capture your data.

hmmm... can they potentially access details only when I'm logging in, or at any time? What recourse would there be if info was compromised?

Once you apply the patch you should be o/k (unless then have made another mistake)

I wouldn't think you would stand a chance of recourse unless a class action could be started against Apple.
