As an alternative to buying laminate worktop from a manufacturer in the Midlands with the cost of getting it up to Aberdeen (see the thread about couriers) a local bankrupt kitchen company is clearing its warehouse and has two 3m pieces like the one in the pic. Trouble is, the kitchen needs another two pieces each 1.5m. Been trying to find the same around other local companies, and just might have a source for one piece, but the hunt would be easier if anyone knew the pattern name.
Or even better still, had a couple of pieces lying around that were not at the bottom of Englandshire.
(The whole thing arises because we want a lightish blue worktop to go with the rest of the colour scheme and noone, but noone seems to make it apart from the one in the Midlands)
This is the pattern - it's probably a bit more blue than suggested by the pic. One local guy said he thought it dated from the 1980s :(

Is there not a brand stamped on the underside IE bushboard or duropal ? That would be a start

Why don't you go to Jewsons and buy a top from them, they can get most of the common makes as they are part of the same group IDS.

You three in Aberdeen.

Simple. Jewsons (and all the other majors) only do the current ranges of black, dingy or orrible imitation wood finishes in laminate. Believe me, I've got every pattern swatch :(

OK, I exaggerate slightly about the yukkiness of what is available, BUT no-one does any lightish blue laminate. We've spent hours going round all the sheds, builders merchants, kitchen showrooms and laminate/plastics specialists. If you want a spectral colour (not imitation wood or "marble") then you can't have it in laminate. Corian would be fantastic, but my pension doesn't extend that far :)
Have now got nearly enough of the one shown (7.2 metres) for £95 delivered. Just need a piece (or ideally two) of 1.5m. In case anyone is feeling helpful, it's an Axiom laminate.

Had some success with this - got one exact matching piece from a local company, plus enough of the edging strip to do about 50 kitchens! And found the design name - it's Axiom Brasilia, number PP5642CR. Discontinued 2008 and NOT available off-the-shelf from the major suppliers. So if anyone has any ideas where an odd piece 1.4m long might be hiding, I'd be eternally grateful. Otherwise, if I cut it really carefully, I'll be just 2cm short :(

could you not use the edging strip and have a discrete join? to cover the last 2 cm?

Interesting thought. The alternative if no more pieces appear out of the dust is that, since one of the pieces is breakfast bar and so needs 300mm ripping off one side, to use some of the spare piece to extend one length, but to do it up in the corner of the room, where it should be inconspicuous. Not sure if the design will look very different 90degrees out, but it's a potential if all else fails. Given it's only 8 years out of date (!) there must be more oddments somewhere - which is why my hopes were pinned on this forum :(
