Unfortunately my uncle has had to go into a nursing home and we are in the process of emptying his house for it to be sold.

He has a collection of books and DVD's on railways and trains which he hoped that the NYMR would have but they say they already have too much stuff as many people had a clear out during lockdown.

A used book seller offered £50 for the lot but I think my uncle would rather they went to someone who has an interest in railways (don't think he wants anything for them, maybe a charity donation?).

As per title the house is in York, If anyone is interested or knows anyone who might be please get in touch.

Top 2 shelves DVD's, bottom 2 books, I have some better photos if anyone wants more detail.

Thanks, Doug

I would but....trying to clear out not add at the moment to save my offspring having to do too much of what you are.

The NYMR based in Pickering have a couple of shops where they sell donated pre owned books and dvds, it's a charity and money raised helps keep the trains chuffing. Maybe give them a call.

Other heritage railways are similar, KWVR in Keighley, East Lancs in Bury spring to mind but there are lots more.

Another thought, the nursing home my F in L went in to had a collection of books, videos and so on in the lounge that any residents could use, a sort of mini library. Maybe where he is going would take a few? It was rather nice, you could see the interests of past and current residents - chess, roman history, all sorts of mini specialist areas. Maybe Covid precautions have ended all that.
