I have a bunch of cedar wood left over from a few years ago and I'd like to build a couple of smaller, high visibility type projects, e.g. end tables, and I was wondering what I could do to lessen the knottiness of the wood?

Find some decent lengths of knot-free stuff in your pile. Re-saw on a band-saw to about 1/4" thick, and lay them as veneer on your visible surfaces.

Plane, re saw, with the planed side to the fence. Repeat as many time as necessary. Match and join the edges that will show, then glue the sawn side down, to aid the glue adhesion.

Hope I am not teaching egg-sucking here of course!

Best of luck. :D
