I went to use a 400Gb drive in an external enclosure today and it's not very happy connecting to the Mac and Disk utility won't fix it. A bit of Googling suggests that reformating it in a PC format seems to kick it back into touch and become accessible by Disk Utility. The enclosure is quite useful as it comes with 3 firewire ports, usb2 and three USB1 ports and so I'd like to try and get it going if I can.

Only I don't have a PC nor any suitable disk utilities. Are there any tech wizards out there who fancy having a look at it for me? Beer tokens suitably rewarded.

TIA

If you have a desktop Mac then just take the side off, plug it and bootup. It should detect it and then you can just format it in ex3 or whatever you need to use on the Mac.

Roger, I know nowt about Macs, but if it's a standard HD and you are stuck you can send the HD to me and I'll format in any way you want.
