Just got back home, unlocked my double glazed front door but the door wouldn't open. Definitely unlocked but something was catching in the lock.
Had a fiddle and luckily, very luckily, it opened and I discovered that one of the metal rods that is housed in the locking bolt had come loose and it was this that was jamming the door.
Now I've seen these in various locks but I've never thought what they do. Does anybody know please?
The next question is whether I can "glue" this back in or do I need to replace the overall mechanism?
Sorry if this is a daft question but having very briefly thought that I might need to break into my own house, I'd like to fix this sooner rather than later!
Thanks.
