Any info on this vice?

I’ve just inherited a vice. In pretty good condition. It’s stamped Wadkin, and appears to have the original paint. It’s fairly substantial and will be a significant upgrade to my current vice.

That's a very rare pattern maker's vice, which turns on its head and does all sorts of clever tricks.

Was this a British-made Emmert?

I have turned up a rather unusual couple of pages in an old Wadkin & Co catalogue which shows what appears to be an Emmert-pattern vice sold by the company. The fact that no less than two pages are devoted to it as opposed to the 1/3 page given over to conventional vices may indicate it's...

The last one I saw on eBay sold for over £400 in worse condition, so no, not a terrible inheritance!

Ignore these fools. It's practically worthless. I'll give you £20 for it and I'm cutting my own throat at that price.
And it's covered in water. Grrrrrrr.
Dry it and at the least wd40 it. At the least.

I don't think I've seen one as nice as this! it should be a really decent vice, they are the rolls royce of vices in my opinion
