Greetings Brothers,
Has anyone come across a saw similar to this, or by the same company?
I cannot find it in my references.
"The Daedalus Saw" "Made for Charles Mann & Co. "Harringay" "Sheffield Made".
It appears to be an inexpensive saw. Perhaps a child's toy saw? It is approximately 18 inches long.
Best wishes to all, Alex.

P.S. As an aside,
I fear for my......... Mod Edit - And another aside - totally irrelevant nonsense deleted. Noel

It says here
"Daedalus & Co was 2nd quality (one of many such "brands") saw made by Joseth Tyzack & Son Ltd Sheffield, sometime between 1876 and 1924, probably early 20th century."

Charles Mann & Co would be a retail shop in Harringay.

Daedalus sounds an interesting ch

I have a vintage 14" undecipherable-brand saw that I acquired from Tooltique that looks exactly like yours. It came sharpened for rip cut with 8tpi and I love it for my small projects.

The only partially-visible branding is this:

Yes, very similar! I would also like to put mine back into service, but it has a nasty kink in the plate. I need to do some research on how to remove kinks! :)

Yes indeed. The saw is clearly second quality.
Thank you, Jacob. Your research capabilities are very impressive! :)
I just googled "daedalus & co saws" or similar. Just takes a couple of stabs! I quoted somebody else who might have been wrong anyway, but it sounded credible.
Lots of different brands would be using blades from the same makers, also brand names get taken up and used by other firms, so it can be confusing.

I could be wrong but the logo looks familiar, I seem to recall a logo like this one on the saw's in my wood working class, this was back in the early 50's so not
exactly positive. (Sheffielder)
