I wanted some earth magnets so went to ebay and got that involuntary £1 donation attached to the bill again, this time NCPC.

Fortunately I have the opportunity to contact buyer this time an pay by cheque.

do I need to do something about my computer?

i have never seen it as a mandatory- only the option to add it. Is it mentioned in the listing?

Never had this problem. I think it must be some setting either on your computer or in your eBay preferences.

+1 that sounds like a config switch somewhere that you've got flagged to "yes I will happily give all my assets to any git who happens to be on a computer anywhere in the world"
Search around ebay and/or paypal help....or google the issue and research it that way

It's not a scam it is something you have set up.

Go to "My eBay" then the Account tab then Donation Account ...... you have something set up there.

The scam the other week re the involuntary charge of £1 was added to the invoice for hinges and was actually received by vendor but they had no knowledge this was being added and being paid to them. (they refunded) so this must be a scam where the scammer wants my card details and are all they want?

I used eBay over the weekend to buy some handles and a router, since reading your posts of last week I specifically checked and I made no additional donations.

I have just had a 10 minute conversation at ebay help line and I do not have a setting or have I agreed to make any donations.

It would appear when I go to paypal I must ensure that the total does not include the donation that is added and there I have the option to not donate so it appears my scam might have nothing to do with that donation section and it was perhaps my assumption that this was where the scam is occurring.

Box it up ? :D

I've made 3 seperate payments for ebay via paypal this week and the option is there to donate but not mandatory. You have to tick the box to donate not the other way around so hope it's not the way they are moving towards as I also want to choose who I support.

Why not just use a reliable and trusted company to purchase your products from, there are plenty out there to choose from.

Take care.

Got my credit card statement in yesterday and there are another three additional fraudulent entries (paid to 02) on the old card number for the same date, I cannot understand why the cc company did not pick them up as well, they scrubbed three without question on the phonecall notification but let these additional ones in although they had cancelled my card at the telephone call, so it must have been into their system and same date as others.

So I have got to fill in a fraud form this time within 28 days.

Bob I just don't understand why anyone should spend time doing this, surely it's for e-bay and paypal to make their systems safe and easy to use. If one is having £1 deducted and it's not crystal clear why then that is the fault of the service provider NOT the customer.

If you went into WH Smiths and asked an assistant where they keep your favorite woodworking magazine and that assistant told you to go look for it (ie research it's location) yourself, you would be rightly annoyed and if it was me I would be writing a strong letter to the MD

It just seems to me that because it's an 'on line' service people are willing to be pissed around and humiliated and I don't understand why.

But of course I am one of those who is gob smacked at all the mugs who go to those standup comics shows and get verbally abused and the rest of the audiance laughs, do so many people have no self respect these days :?:
