Well this is another Christmas present completed. This is for my dear old mum who is in her 90's she made hints that she would like a bird nest box so I made one along with a bird feeder.
Made from panels from a bi-fold door that someone messed up when fitting, the panels were in good clean order and already at the correct thickness for my needs so saved a little time on the prep work. The doors were brand new and had not even been varnished/painted this was another bonus no cleaning up required.
OK I can hear you all say that I am a cheap skate but knowing my mum she would rather I recycled than keep buying new.

I did go out and buy a can of cuprinol in seagrass.

To add to the box I added a line carved bird

Dalboy, that`s a great thing you have done for your old mum. And as for using stuff that`s at hand, then more power to you !

If you do more, it's not a good idea to put perches on them as large birds have something to cling to when robbing the nest.

Sorry, I took the feeder to be a box. (even after reading that it wasn't?)

Thank you all. Brian I applied it straight from the tin as the instructions. I did think about the sample pots, but I can still use the rest of the tin on other bits

Have you done anything to weatherproof the hinge joint?

No I did not but did thank about it. There are holes in the bottom so that it will help with ventilation and let any water to drain away. These are going to be fitted under an overhangs which will give some protection
