The green and wetter end of the M4.
almost, in that everything went to plan and it finished nicely (friction polish).
not quite, in that its a bit of an oddity, but then again I think most earring holders are.
Looking at it after its finished i think it may have been better if i turned a long finial and had the earring holder bit free floating with a hole in the centre and just placed over the finial. we live and learn. :)

spalted maple (50p :D ) and sapele, about 4 inches tall.

Looks great nev!

Where did you get that wood for 50p??

Timberman in Browydd (carmarthen) He doesnt keep anything exotic apart frm sapele and idigbo, mostly homegrown stuff like ash, oak, maple, syc, yew and box. The blue sycamore bowl in the other post was a 10 x 2 round and cost 3.50, the same size in sapele was 14.50 and oak burr about 25 ?

Wow! good find there :)

I spoke to the guys there when I went to the show in the botanic gardens but the wood wasnt in my price range at the time as they only had the more expensive timber there :(

I will be getting some when I eventually go down there! Thanks Nev!
