Hi everyone, hope you are all well, I have a couple of questions which I hope someone will point me in the right direction, I have been giving a old oak dresser which I hope to strip back to bare wood and put a clear wax finish on it but I am not sure what finish is currently on it, I know it is not varnish but looks like either wax or oil, is there an easy way to tell? then depending on what finish is on it what is the best way to strip it back? thanks for reading and all advise will be appeciated, regards Matt.

Hi Matt,

Slightly off your question, but I think you might regret a wax finish on a dresser top. It would be fine on vertical surfaces but you might want to consider something more durable and resistant on any working surface.
