Advice required on mandrel fitting

Evening all! I hope someone might point me in the right direction with mandrel fitting to my lathe? I've a photo below if the mandrel in question. I've seen on google people use a collet however I don't believe I have this variety.

Would this be correct? The mandrel can be pulled out of the plate thing easily? Is it all held in place by the tail stock? Seems to be the only way I can thing of but thought it was best to check :)

the morse taped goes into the headstock as a friction fit, the tailstock supports the other end via a live centre - but shouldn't need any pressure (and you really want to avoid any as it can cause fle and wreck the finish you get on the blank).
 
Okay great thanks guys, I at least i know what to do when I start turning some pens :), this evening I decided to make friends with the parting tool. Here are the results:
