Hi,

I'm currently wanting to paint/stain some pine wooden flooring in a room in our house.

For this room, I didn't really want to go with the bog standard finishes as most flooring is.
With the rest of the flooring in the house being like that, I wanted something a little different, and so set my heart on a dark turquoise colour.
The picture I've provided looks more worn than I'd like it, but that's the sort of colour I'm talking about.
I'd like it either solid matte or glossed, but not really shabby-shic

I went to B&Q to see what was on offer there and they had a number of really nice wood stains in the colours I wanted, but that you couldn't use on flooring because they weren't durable enough.

I don't really know a lot finishing flooring, so I was wondering whether anyone knew of what I could buy to achieve this?
Maybe you can mix this colour into a durable flooring gloss or paint?
My apologies if I'm way off there, as I say I'm not really experienced in this field.

Thanks a lot!

I wouldn't mix the stain into a finish. What I would do is (on a test piece) use the stain/dye of your choice and then once dry go over the top with some clear Osmo hard wax oil. I've never tried this but it wouldn't hurt to try. Unless you can fined a commercial product this might be your only option.

Thanks for the reply, Matt.

I'll look into the wax option.
Would I be able to tell whether it would wear reasonably on the test piece?

Osmo Hard wax oil is designed for floors so I would imagine it would be hard wearing but I have never used it on a floor myself.
