I use Pbase for my picture storage and have had no problems adding pics to my posts until recently all the pics in my posts have disappeared and been replaced with red crosses. If I right click on the red cross and in properties cut and paste the url into a new browser window the picture displays OK. I know Adam uses Pbase so any ideas please.

John,

I can't seen anything wrong with the photos on my pbase account, nor yours. The only thing I can think of, is you have managed to find a way to direct link to images on a specific server - rather than the general URL - which would continue to work even if they take a server offline.

E.g. your avatar URL is this:

Code:
http://i2.pbase.com/u39/jaydoubleu/upload/39402776.bench.jpg

Wheras I'd use the following URL for the same image

Code:
http://www.pbase.com/jaydoubleu/image/39402776.jpg

Which if I'm correct shoudl show up below:

39402776.jpg

I reckon to access the image URL you are right click at the image and taking the URL from the properties - wheas you should be taking the "URL" out of the browser address bar - and adding ".jpg" on the end.

That way - its server independent.

Hope thats helps. Shout again if that doesn't make sense.

Thanks Adam, I originally used the url from the browser address bar and had no problems but later found the pictures had gone so tried using the url from the properties box. I will change them back to the url from the browser address bar and see what happens. I have also found recently in pbase that not all the picture sizes seem to work. I can't get the medium and small pictures to display, are yours OK?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

How is this ?

I simply entered the url that your red X pointed at, directly into the address bar, Then when the picture came up, I used the properties of that image to post here.

The URL of the picture you posted above which "doesn't appear"

is

Code:
http://www.pbase.com/jaydoubleu/image/36736878.jpg

The image “http://www.pbase.com/jaydoubleu/image/36736878.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I think their may be at least some form of error - maybe depending on which size you are viewing it at - and also, I'm wondering if you are using your upload directory, instead of viewing directories. I have had a couple of images not create all sizes correctly, but not for a long time, and even then, just 1 or 2.
