Adam - do you have one of these?

Hereford Museum had one of these, linked to the outside world, a few years back. Don't know whether it's still there. It was certainly fascinating to watch.

Cheers,

Trev.

Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery in Glasgow has something similar. They're closed for a refit at the moment, and I hope they will retain this feature.

My club has several - we take them to various shows and events - children especially are always interested - and you can give them the task of finding the queen - shes slightly bigger than an average bee, and is normally marked with a coloured dot of paint - and even for us lot, finding her in and amongst 20-30,000 bees is quite a task. Kids seem to think its excellent fun trying to find her

I did debate making one, and have heard of someone having its as the showpiece in the dining room (instead of a window). Maybe sometime soon!
