I need to use acrylic sander sealer for one of my turnings, unfortunately I don't have any could I use a thinned coat of acrylic varnish as a substitute

Dependant upon the brand you are using you could ask Terry Smart for advise.

He does caution about using the Chestnut spray on Acrylic Lacquer without a compatible sealer in this thread.

Thank you both I will give it a go as I am going to use acrylic paint on top of it. I did use acrylic paint on my horse and then used this varnish to protect it.

Make sure you cut the acrylic lacquer back with fine sandpaper to roughen up the surface and make a key for the acrylic point over it.
