hi all

is it possible and can the dewalt 745 table saw cut good clean accurate repetitive cuts for making small to medium size cabinets out of mdf/mfmdf and plywood ?? im limited for space but need a good saw !!

Hi Dario,

I recently purchased the DW745 and I have been using it on and off for the past week.

First off I can tell you it's a great build. It's very sturdy, comes very well set up right out of the box and if you get it with the DE7400 stand it's very easily transportable.

The blade that came with mine I think is a bit too rough for my liking, im not too sure I think its 24 tooth. Although I might be wrong, (its the standard one that comes with it) Im looking to get a much finer 60tooth one.

It's loud but all these compact saws are all loud. The mitre fence is quite well built considering they are usually flimsy and the fence has these allen bolts that allow you to make sure that every time you re-clamp the fence if you take it off, its always 90 degrees.

The only thing I would say as a negative point is the On/Off switch. It's not like the american version where it has that massive red switch that you can blindly press whilst still looking at the table saw surface. I always have to look for the off switch..

So in conclusion, I would say yes, it can make accurate repetitive cuts. The fence locking system is great, the fence doesn't budge at all when its locked down as you would expect. However, since you want to use it for sheets of material bear in mind the 400mm or so allowance that you can rip on the right. it's not for very wide boards, unless you make a jig of your own..

I bought mine for 460GBP including shipping (DW745 + DE7400) or you can buy the saw alone for 389GBP including shipping from buyaparcel dot com

I've owned and used the DW745 with the DE7400 stand for about 3 years now and because I don't have a workshop and work outside the mobile saw is my only option.
I find it very accurate and have never had a problem, as above the fence is great, the best I found when researching. I also use a incra mitre gauge and am still surprised by the accurate results I can get with a mobile saw.
Again as above I upgraded the blade to a trend 60 tooth and its 1000% better than the one that comes with it especially for MDF. The off switch is not as good as the big slam buttons you see and it is noisy but I wouldn't let that put you off, its an excellent saw and very mobile and compact.
I did consider the Makita MLT100X because it has a sliding table and bigger table area due to it having the ability to extending but the fence seemed very flimsy and flexed under the slightest pressure so I went for the DW745.

If its just sheet materials your cutting have you considered a track saw like the Festool TS55? Like mentioned above the compact saws have limited rip capacity.
