I have been looking on e-bay at rolls of abrasive and it looks as if its going to be lucky dip. Some of it looks like rubbish while others like J flex look very good but very expensive. I am not all that familiar with the different makes, have seen rolls by Hermes and Mirka. What I want it for is for smoothing 18mm hardwood that has just come off the router table where the grain has been lifted. I would like to get a variety of grits, something like, 180, 220 and 280. At the moment I am using 3M stikit 6 inch disc folded in half. Its okay but it would be nice to have something similar on a roll. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

I've got 3 or 4 Mirka that are good, I've not long bought a red 180grit Bosch that's brilliant.
I think the grey/black Mirka's the best. Be aware that some of them are designed for paint and body filler - these will be more open coated. They are o.k. if cheap enough, but won't give as good a finish.
