I hate anything plumbing related :x

Changed some washers today.

But they're not washers - they're ceramic insert things.

Several trips to plumbers merchants.

Laps around the block looking for parking.

Old taps - no longer made - have you brought the tap handles?

Back home again for tap handles

About to be sent to another shop.

You can just replace the bottom washer - I know it doesn't look like it!! :p

Non-standard size though - take these 1/2 inch washers and trim them down to fit

Started at 11am, finished at 2:30. No leaks reported yet!!

I'm with you there - I hate plumbing. It amazes me that it took people so long to invent the snap fit stuff, so most houses come with copper piping and pressure fit. The thing that scares me with plumbing is the damage that can be done if something leaks

I think plumbers like soldered copper because it's cheaper. Could be wrong, though, I also hate plumbing, as you always end up trying to work in tiny spaces at weird angles. Last September I used up an entire year's worth of swearing fixing a cistern problem.

Been there too with cisterns - last owner put his own special washer in as well for some reason. I never stood a chance of fitting the new valve! Cistern emptied entirely into the kitchen below, filled a light fitting and tripped the circuit breakers

It must be a woodworker thing because I ABSOLUTELY HATE PLUMBING. I know a few plumbers, one (old school type) said another used more elbows on a job than he did in a year, 'has he not got a pipe blender' was all he said.
Having TRV's fitted upstairs and a new towel rail in the bathroom, I'm paying a plumber, will make everything soooo much easier!

Stew

I'm not a plumber but I can do it. Wish I'd never learned. Hate it with a vengeance - but now I know what I'm doing I have to use that skill when the need arises!? Much rather be making wood smaller......

I am not a plumber but do it when necessary, I prefer the soldered joints and have a pipe bender as the push fit fittings are so big and the plastic pipe looks naff when bent. When I look at the workmanship of many modern plumbers it makes me cry and pleased that I can do better my self even though I don't like doing it. But like so many things I expect you get what you pay for.

Nothing makes me chuck the toys out the pram like doing a bit of plumbing. Laying upside down with a hand up lord knows where is not my idea of fun. Nope.
