I currently use a Vicmarc 120 chuck with a range of jaws. To stop changing jaws over so regularly I am thinking of getting a second chuck. Logic says to get a second vicmarc one but they seem really expensive and jaws are even more so.
So should I stick with Vicmarc or get something different
Are there any other chucks which are compatible with vicmarc jaws
Chuck needs to vit Vicmarc thread 33 X 3.5
Any thoughts appreciated
Ian

my two cents would be to stick with the vicmarcs as you know they work and you have the jaws already

I use the old type axmister super precision chuck on my vl300 (backplate has groove for clamp if reqd).

I don't think they're current stock but the do come up on ebay often and I think aptc still do / will make the back plates.

Given Vic'y do command a premium, perhaps chop them in and go for aptc SP set up. I've done that over the years and now have 3 SP chucks with probably 7 or 8 sets of different jaws all with dedicated carriers. Quite an investment if you add it up I guess but bought over 6 or 7 years it didn't feel too bad!

I know I'm only a novice here, but surely it makes sense to stay with what you know. I have 1 versa chuck and five APTC SK 100s, I got 3 of the SKs as a job lot very cheap.
