A piece of advice

[Cutting Crew]

Hello all,

A visiting rep called in the workshop yesterday and as it was lunchtime he came armed with a few jam doughnuts, I duly made the tea and we both enjoyed the doughnuts.

It wasn't until this morning when I was applying the masking to one of my thin pieces in readiness for airbrushing that I realised some of the jam from the doughnut had dropped on my turning smock. Holding and turning the piece in my lap to put the masking on I got jam all over the bottom half of the piece and believe me it's a pipper to get off. I had completely to re-sand the piece.

A piece of advice, beware of reps bearing gifts, it can mean hard work.

I had a similar misfortune with a Holly platter, but instead of jam, I got blood from a tiny nick on my finger all over it. I didn't notice it as it was on the back side.

I had to wait for it to dry, and then sand it off - it was suprising how well it had penetrated into the wood!

I still to this day don't know what I had nicked my finger on!
