34 years ago my daughter won a Cyclamen in a garden fête raffle.

The prize still brings a refreshing ray of colour into a post winter chill.

34 years, Chas!!!

I can't keep those d****d things alive for 34 weeks and only possibly for 34 days!! What's the secret?

The Boss says:---
When they finish flowering and the leaves shut down for the summer, put the pot outside under a bush or hedge out of the sun and leave it to rest, no watering so don't leave in water saucer.
Check about September, when leaves start shooting don't let them get too lanky.
Bring in doors to good light but not direct sunlight through window, north facing ideal.
Water from base only, include good pot plant feed in water.

Do not re-pot or take corm out of pot unless absolutely necessary*, well drained loam mix not a water hogging peat compost.
* if leaves start withering unexpectedly suspect weevils eating roots.

A couple of it's companions, the smaller red one is at least 20 yrs old and the pink one 14 yrs old.

They don't like household gas so a kitchen may not be the best location if you have a gas cooker.
