Not quite cabinet making but just as rewarding, well more rewarding..

Daddy, can I have a sandbox for my birthday. You did promise to build me one a long, long, very long time ago.
Yeah, sure, no problem When is your birthday?
Day after tomorrow Daddy.
Ok, let's see, what kind do you want?

Off to the net to have a wee look....

That one there Daddy!!! Can you make me one like that please?
I'll let you know Tom.....
And I want a blue one please

So, after about 900 "is it ready yet"s this appeared from the shop:

Excellent. That looks like a great project!

Looks good to me, Noel. The raisable lid is a good idea.

Looks great, Noel - is this an indication of whats coming for me in a few years?

Bit Heath Robinson
Huh - I can't see any Gaffer Tape or any Cable ties - therefore it cannot be Heath Robinson in my book.

Nice work.....

I fear for you and me both Neil! Be warned of forthcoming post on cradles..

Noel, Very Nice.

Now if I had one of those when I was a kid, I would've played with the up & down roof mechanism more than the sand!

Cheers

Howard

Noel,
Nice job! The moveable roof is a great idea and so simple.

Did you source the sand locally?

All the best.

Thanks all for your kind comments.
Idea came from here:

Useless pictures and a tad more expensive......
Could've sourced the sand locally from the beach but wanted really fine washed sand that was legally obtained. Had to to pay a fortune to get it from a local toy shop.
Since I took the picture there's netting (the green stuff that's used to protect hedges from the wind) on the sides of the lid to stop the cat and other critters from sneaking in.
And Les and Neil, it's all ahead of you but well worth it, especially when the cub(s) can help you build it.
