for my new apartment i decided to turn an old door i found in an abandoned building into a table. The door was stripped of the paint, sanded and i gave it 2 coats of tung oil. which has really popped the grain and given it a nice rich colour.

can someone recommend a good top finish that will give the table a lasting wet gloss look?

For a real high gloss "wet" look hard wearing polish that will cover irregularities in the surface try Everglades High Gloss Resin Coating. I think Craft Supplies sell it.

Havn't used it for a while but did a bar top for a pub a few years ago and it is still like new now - Extremely hardwearing and if it gets scratched can be burnished again with burnishing cream to restore if necessary.

Its just a case of mix a to b and apply.

Nowadays though I tend to use Acid Cat Lacquer for finishes like this but needs more care in applying.

Hope this helps
