A German Staircase

I had the pleasure of visiting friends in Berlin last weekend. They have two apartments, one above the other, that have been converted into a single dwelling by the addition of an interconnecting staircase in oak. Two things struck me about this staircase:
1) It appeared to be very well made and a credit to the joiners who built it.
2) It was very steep and needed concentration to negotiate, particularly after enjoying the generous hospitality of my hosts
- Much steeper than I think would be allowed in the UK. It made me wonder how the permitted steepness of staircases varies in different countries.

Certainly some Netherlands stairs match that in pitch and hazard.....

made quite a few stairs in my time in Germany and Holland, as Dee said, many a flight of stairs in ?Holland are of the 30 deg incline and 80 cm wide and often with two winders, note that in Germany the treads are often of 35 - 40mm thick and rails too.
