Had a change today and turned some small bowls.
Seems like ages since i last turned a bowl
These four are blanks donated last year.
The Spalted Beech from CHJ,which is nice and dry now,and the Walnut from Oldsoke.

Very nice Paul, like the spalting on the top two. I wonder when you go to the lathe to make a bowl do you have an exact idea of the shape or let it evolve as you go?
Steve

Thanks Allen/Steve :D

No Steve no idea at all, just chuck it and see,as they say. :D
They do change some times due to faults in the wood which appear as you get into it,but that is about it.
I left the Spalted Beech ones plainish just to show off the Spalting more.

Paul

All of them are well turned. I particularly like the shape of the first walnut bowl where as the first bowl lends it's self to the chunky look
Look forward to seeing more of the same

All very nice bowls Paul,

I`m particularly drawn to the spalted ones, some lovely grain features in them, well turned.

Certainly some nice pieces Paul.

I like the spalted beech ones very much as I am addicted to the wood.

All lovely Paul,

But number 3 my fav - I just love that profile....

Thank you Mark/Loz :D
I have a load of Beech which i am Spalting, been there now for nearly twelve months and is looking good,so i might be trying a piece of that soon :D

Like them all :D
Love the colouring of the beech, and am also very drawn to the shape of the last walnut one - it looks just right to nestle in your hands 8)

Shouldn't bother Paul, It'll be going rotten inside, perhaps you can give it away to some unsuspecting individual at the bash
