I had a dabble with the dark side of french polishing a while ago, client insisted, why, i didn't dare ask but used those super blonde flakes you mentioned. To be fair after initial worries of getting the mix correct was actually a bit of fun. I have a small bag left over so if your planning any more happy to send them your way.
 
What a fantastic piece you have created. A great combination of wood species that I feel work extremely well together.
Thank you for your photos on the progress of the piece and the time spent in creating such a wonderful chest of drawers. I'm just dad that I didn't know about your thread sooner.
 
Thankyou for the comments and thankyou Sean for the offer of the flakes but I'm a Seal Coat convert for now.

Cabinetman, I glued the frame up as square stock then rounded everything with a router fitted with a rounding over bit.

Then riffling into the corners and lots and lots of sanding.
