6JT vs 2MT - pros and cons?

Is one taper viewed as superior to another?
If I have a 6JT quill, is there an adaptor to then take my 2MT chuck?

A 2 MT chuck is not large, so I doubt you would notice any real difference.
I prefer MT but as your quill is JT I would suggest you get a chuck that fits your quill.
Failing that, you should find an adaptor without too much trouble
