Now I understand why the local adult education leaflets for this season show half a dozen courses on fly-tying and not a single wood-turning course!

If the numbers are that low for the UK I dread to think how low they are over here in Ireland! Might explain why it is so hard to get hands-on demo's of tools before buying
 
You may think the number of woodworkers in Britain is small, I still think of your country as a heaven for woodworkers and -turners.

As far as I know there is only 1 firm that stocks a decent selection of hand tools in the Netherlands.
My regular visits to Wales are used to buy the tools that will fit in my car. About 60% of the inventory of my workshop was imported from Britain in this way. I guess more than 30% was bought in Belgium and from Germany.

As to magazines, none on general woodworking. There is a quarterly on woodturning by Radius, the dutch equivalent to the AWGB.

So please don't complain too much.
