1950s kitchen utensils refurb - what paint?

Hi

I have a set of utensils similar to this, but the painted handles are looking shabby.

Would these have been painted with normal gloss? Or is there something more hard-wearing? How well does wood take enamel?

Huge fan of Bedec MSP, but I doubt you'd A/ get the colour match, or B/ get the right hardness & glossiness to match the original.

I wonder if the original isn't some sort of enamel paint.

Thanks both. I may give enamel a punt - if it fails, then I can just sand it off again.

Bit of lead paint, add some flavour to your cooking like the old days :lol:

On another note, can't believe that ladle was worth that much, I have seen so many like that in charity shops or car boots for 10p- 20 p

Car spray paint? Couple of rattle cans should do the job if you want two colours.
