In a moment of Fleabay madness, I have purchased an old Tyzack 10" table saw with no motor, which I'm picking up on Monday. I'm not sure what the condition is yet, so how much to spend on a motor, but if its tidy enough, I'll probably get a decent quiet motor. Appreciate some advice on the following :
  • What size / spec motor would you expect to need for a 10" saw, It will replace my current inverted B&D 9" Circular saw, and is used mainly for ripping timber to size - I use a track saw for sheet goods.
  • I understand blade RPM should be around 4500 rpm - does this sound about right?
  • Finally, is it better to gear up to blade speed from a 1500 or 3000 rpm motor?
Thanks in advance

Richard
