    Wifi Doorbell

It’s a short walk to the front door from my workshop and being semi-disabled takes me a minute or so to get there. What I want is a means of seeing who is at the door and to speak to them. I have an android tablet and a PC running Ubuntu. I’ve spent hours trying to find the right weatherproof...

    WiFi Frontdoor Viewer

Anyone had experience of fitting one? I want something that gives me a view on my tablet and/or computer. Also with two way audio. I've been round and round with all the makes and options until my head hurts and I still can't make up my mind what's best to buy. Any help appreciated.

    Spooky

I built two small clocks using identical movement inserts. I set the times on them and they’ve stood side by side for a several days. The second sweep hands are now in perfect unison and they definitely weren’t originally. They’ve stayed like this for three days.

    Another what is it?

Got this in a large job lot. At first I glance I thought it was for carving spoons then I looked more closely and could see the edge is not sharp and never has been. It's about 7 inches long. Any ideas?

    Stanley Plane Iron question.

I can't remember seeing this before but maybe I'm getting forgetful! Have a look at the photo of the plane iron cap. It says "correct angle for grinding" with an arrow pointing to the shaped cut-out to test the iron against. Have you come across this before? https://flic.kr/s/aHskMUFrj7

    Taps.

I have acquired some SKF taps 10 x 32 UNF which are different from any type I seen before. The cutting thread is continuous, there are no flutes, and in cross section the tap is a Reuleaux triangle (sort of triangular with rounded corners). Anyone come across this type or have any information?

    Magnets

I stripped down an old hard drive to recover the magnet. The magnet remains bonded to a 3mm thick piece of the original HD metal framing . The face of the magnet has extremely strong magnetic force (as you'd expect) BUT the rear of the 3mm thick metal the magnet is fixed to has almost no...

    What do these symbols mean?

The ones in the yellow area. Particularly the 1.6 with the triangle? This is part of a construction sheet. Measurements are metric. Thanks.

    VAT

I'm getting fed up with getting catalogues and leaflets in the post showing prices excluding VAT. Had two just today Cromwell and ITS. We all have to pay the VAT whether we can claim it back or not and invoices show the VAT element anyway. They think it makes their prices look good - but only...
