    Spindle wood worth turning?

Hello all, I have a reasonable load of spindle wood which was originally destined for the fire wood pile. However cutting up revealed that the heart wood is a distinct reddish brown against the creamy white sap wood. The growth rings are also well marked. Has any one turned spindle wood? Does...

Respiratory protection, what do you use?

I've been lurking on this post for a little while, for me the Air Sheild was just too damn expensive, I did try one on today an found it a real fiddle, and a pain to get the gasket to seat properly. Long story shortened, I bought an Air Ace and am very pleased with it too. I have to admit to...

    Cleaning/lubricating bandsaw blades

Chain Saw oil does sound rather messy.... BuilderChad, Because I've sharpened the edge of the scraper (to fairly sharp) if I go a little too far, 2 things happen: 1) I get a chattering noise and 2) the leading edge of the scraper is immeadiately cut/destroyed (for want of a better...

    Cleaning/lubricating bandsaw blades

Hi TT, My Record RBS300 suffers the same problem, I haven't come across a way of avoiding it yet. Sycamore Bowl

Hi TT, The funny thing is, that when I cut up the board, this was the "Ugly Duckling Piece". Most of the board was clear of imperfections, but this piece was marred with some sort of bark inclusion, fortunately it "turned out". Excuse the pun  . Regards, Dicky Mint
