    Specific table saw.

I can't seem to find them on the Axminster site anymore but the magnets were these 40mm diameter items that had a turn-lever on top that turned the magnets on and off. I mounted a couple to the fence using an 'L' type bracket arrangement on the opposite side to the blade at the end opposite...

    Specific table saw.

Not posted in a while but saw this thread on the TS-200. With a bit of time the TS can be made very good. The zero insert is easy to do and making the fence better is a bit trickier but can be made to operate very smoothly and glide over the surface and to lock in position with zero movement...

    Dressing up my TS-200 - zero-clearance insert

Yes just a bit of scrap screwed down through the table with countersunk screws. The zero plate is then screwed down with the original screws and some tiny ones into the scrap wood shelf. The blade will fully tilt without hitting the shelf but the original plate is needed for any cuts other than...

    Dressing up my TS-200 - zero-clearance insert

I fitted a bit of wood for the plate to sit on but some aluminium would do a better job. The blade is free to tilt all the way still. Steve

    Which air compressor and nailer?

I have a 6 litre 10 bar bostitch compressor and with it I use everything from a 18 gauge brad nailer to a 90mm framing nailer. My compressor is oil filled. Its true I have never used the compressor at anything over 8 BAR with any of my tools but the extra couple of BAR stored in the tank...

Three-pin plug advice. Any 'Sparkies' out there please?'

Yep the 'trailing' multi-adaptors are fine, I meant those terrible 'block' style adaptors. I have seen two of these together in one single socket outlet with five things plugged in  looking like a drooping cigarette end that needs a flick and almost as hot  Steve.

Three-pin plug advice. Any 'Sparkies' out there please?'

Unless you want to buy a new kettle then just chop off the old plug top and connect a new 13A plug top to the kettle lead. If the thing still heats up the problem will be within the kettle or the socket and you will have wasted £1 on a plug, if not then jobs a goodun!! Not sure if UK socket...

    Which Nails ?

I have heard the thing on wetting the boards before laying but can't get my head round how this works?? Surely wetting will cause the boards to swell then if you fit them butt up to each other when they dry they will shrink and make gaps? Will defer to a floor layer but to me wetting doesn't...

    Vitamin C

I go through phases of eating badly with little fruit or veg so I do take vitamin C and a multi vitamin. I realize you only need a certain amount of the vitamin to stave of scurvy and not the mega amounts touted for colds. I really have no idea if they actually do any good or are needed as a...

    verroucas

I have had something verruca like on my foot for well over 10 years, not big (5mm) and not painful or bothersome but it has defied every attempt at DIY treatment to date (several freeze bottles and 4-5 Bazooka extra gel)! Will give the tape a go... Steve.

    central heating advice sought

Here is a plumbing question, under the floorboards I always see the pipes without any lagging. Would lagged pipes make the system more efficient? Surely a lot of heat is lost on the way to the rads? Steve.

    Light Switch Wiring Query

Just swap the two top wires first. This way you will see if the switch is broke as the inside lights will be on the other suspect side of the switch and wont work if it's broke. Also to wire the switch correctly, the red link wire coming from the bottom right 'C' or common terminal should be...

    Sharpening Stones need explaining!!

I tend to use either a low grit diamond stone or sandpaper on glass to make the primary bevel at 30 degrees on badly worn chisels and then move onto my 1000 or 2000 and then 6000 grit waterstones to make the micro bevel as small as possible using a Veritas guide. Much as in the same was the...

    Why 13 Amps?

I think that around 40 milli-amps is where things get iffy hence why RCD's are normally set to 30 mA but don't take this as gospel. Steve
